Syllabus: Welcome to Canvas - Teaching Students in Blended Classrooms with Cloud Based Technology

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course prepares educators to teach and communicate with students by using Cloud Based Technology, heretofore known as Canvas Instructure. Participants will learn effective strategies for engaging, instructing and assessing students in blended environments and explore the ways blended learning using Canvas can effectively support standards-based teaching and learning in all subject areas.  Participants will learn techniques to foster student collaboration in an online learning community through discussions, collaborations, online assignments and group projects.  In addition, participants will learn to meet the learning needs of all students by selecting and using a variety of teaching strategies within Canvas Instructure that aid in personalising learning for students.  During this course, Belfast Met instructors will learn about and practise using digital tools embedding in Canvas to teach critical thinking skills, explore student academic integrity issues and the safe and legal use of online digital resources.  Additionally, participants will learn about and practice using instructor tools in Learning Management System (LMS).  Course content includes online creating modules, page creation, file management and group and individualised assignment creation.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be prepared to plan, design, create and implement their courses in Canvas.
